..because my brain is overheating, not because I’m bored. Scientists have finally figured out the reason for yawning. The brain basically works like a computer, it is in it’s most efficient stage when it’s cool. So, the yawn takes in a lot  of air to cool down the brain when needed the most, like when going to bed, so it can rest or when you are tired to make it more alert. Now I need to start eating more ice-cream to keep my brain extra cold.
Hi all,
I would suggest to all posters to use the “more” function when publishing long post on the blog. The “more” tag is used to split the body of the text and limits what is shown on the home page. There is a dedicated button in the text editor:
This way the front page presents a nice selection of items and the whole thing stays relatively compact. I feel it’s nicer and more enjoyable to not have to do a scrolling marathon to reach the posts down below.
BBC’s complete non-sense children’s science programme is available on Youtube. It’s definately on of my all time favourite series. Iron, Water and Maths probably the craziest episodes. Calcic Image Misplacement (C.I.M.) is great as well.

tbeta is a new multi-touch framework released a couple of months ago by nuigroup. It’s based on touchlib but they have rebuilt the framework to give some more functionalities and make it cross-platform. Good news for mac users since now it’s completely compatible for Win, Mac and Linux. I have been reading the documentation and it seems pretty easy to install, calibrate and make it work.
In relation to this, Mikko wrote a post about touchlib, in which tbeta is based, some months ago with some useful links too.
Build It. Share It. Profit. Can Open Source Hardware Work? is an interesting article published on Wired a couple of months ago â€â€it’s not that recent, so maybe you have already seen it that reflects about how the Arduino developers are making profit from an open source project. It proofs how you can make some money without closed policies or blocking all your knowledge to others. Sharing and making money can work. It does worth to read it.
I am afraid of what the americans will do with this. “Researchers from Japan’s ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories have developed new brain analysis technology that can reconstruct the images inside a person’s mind and display them on a computer monitor”
I definetly like the way the blob and type move with the music but I can’t quite appreciate Goldfrapp… Golly. I really have to learn that Processing app.
Anyhow, a hi-res still of that same video is also featured on the cover of this winter’s Eye magazine (Eye 70).

The guy in this video is terrible and everything “is really just beautiful” but it gives a nice tour of the system for the upcoming model which will feature an “innovation digital dashboard”.
Adobe AIR is becoming more and more popular and powerful for creating widgets and other software that checks databases or other information online. Adobe has been pushing hard on it during the last MAX events and this is one of the coolest results I’ve seen so far.
Fiat eco:Drive is a new service by Fiat that gives you advice about your driving by connecting a memmory stick in your car. When you get home you can connect it to your computer and download all the information that has been logged. It’s not going to change the world but the intention is good and the way it works can trigger some other cool ideas within the car industry!

or logo in english. Since I’m breaking my “not using computer” vow to make a presentation I just post a header I made a while back for the blog, because roberto asked for ideas. It’s ironic and iconic and pretty heavy metal + techno. Nobody will like it anyways.
