This project was part of the a form study course and my personal brief was to design a door handle for a public restroom.

The handle needs to convey the movement of the door (push or pull) and the stage of the restroom (occupied and free).

Free

When the restroom is free (unlocked), the handle is in the normal position and there is enough space between the handle and the door for grasp.

Occupied

When the restroom is occupied (locked), the handle will be turned up vertically and there is not enough space for the hand to grasp the handle.

Before exploring the form, I did some analysis to understand how the form can convey the pull/push movement. Since most of the restrooms are not spacious, I decided to design a PULL handle.
